Very common complaint. I recall this guy improvising a little to extend his coverage.
Hmmm...I just priced these on their US and Canadian websites. A front/rear set is $179 in the US...but the same thing is $269 in Canada?!?For the full retail price of $300...

Yep. Prices here can be bizarre. Especially when the item is made in Canada. (or invented in Canada).
I actually used a plastic cutting board from the dollar store to extend my false pedal protection. Lol.
I do remember what it was like with generic Michelin mats in my '14. Salt was everywhere. It got under the mats and was all over my carpets. Not saturated mind you, but enough for me to be upset at the situation on a 3 month old car.

I installed the full set of Weathertech mats in my 2017 (front & rear for $179). I tried to find a cheaper solution, but nothing else seemed to fit properly. It definitely was a shock to my wallet at the time. However, I have no regrets at all. The fit and finish along with the durability is worth the price. I'm glad I bought them.
I thought the price was large as well. I bought the OEM Mitsubishi all weather mats.I was not happy with them... After that I bought the Weathertech ones. If anyone wants the front OEM all weather mats I have, let me know. I will give them to you free if you pay the shipping...
