Has anyone attempted to take them off/replace?
Back in the day, they just screw in and out. The Rio had a fancy reverse so I didnt take a chance.
Since the Mirage does not have any other lever (for reverse), I'm assuming just lefty-loosy?

yup for CVT / MT just rotate counter clockwise
Some may require a cloth and a shifter.
Place cloth over the gear knob, then use the shifter to break the plastic glue seal that it may have.

I put an evo shift knob on mine and how deep the old shift knob was the evo one has a gap between the boot and the knob. I have a shifty(http://www.wiggyshifties.com/) on mine so it doesn't bother me much but I can feel it. The small baseball shape feels right in my hand though so I needed the big clunky one to go.
probably a good 2 inches. I was toying with the idea of making the shifter shorter but im already reaching further down than I want to shift. shortening it even more would just make it unbearable. Ill take a pic and show you guys a little later when my girls go down for bed.
