Has anyone tried the Silverstar ultra 9003 replacement headlights?
If so, are they worth the money?
thanks, Alan

They suuuuuuuuck. While they are brighter, you will be lucky to get six months of life out of them. Plus, they are damned expensive.
I totally agree with Cobrajet.

This site has a excellent selection of bulbs. I've ordered from them before.

I got 10 months out of Ultra 9007, replaced with lower model rated for 200 hours, based on my average speed and miles they lasted 212 hours (about 5 months). Ordered 4 hella long lifes from rockauto for under $20 delivered. Just last week on the way home noticed a low was out, once home the other low was burned out as well. No more Sylvania for me. Haven't installed the hella yet, might as wait for these to burn out, one was new other used.
I read that Sylvania only rates the Silverstar Ultra for 145 hours of usage. To put that into perspective, many standard H4 headlight bulbs are rated for about 500 hours.
They also contend that the 'average driver' will only use their low beam headlights for 100 hours over the course of the year. That works out to about 15 minutes a day 365 days a year, or 20 minutes a day 5 days a week. Whaaaat?? This seems like a very, very questionable claim.
A bulb that is slightly brighter, but at least twice as expensive and only lasts 1/3 as long? No thanks. I quit buying these years ago.

If you need more lights you could just add some fog lights if you dont already have them or if you do lots of night traveling in empty roads you could get an LED bar.

I am not a fan of Consumer Reports, but they contend that 'premium headlight bulbs' aren't of too much benefit. They don't allow you to see farther. The 'throw' of a headlight is largely determined by the size and shape of the reflector. But, since they are a bit whiter and brighter, you will be able to see what you can already see with regular bulbs a little better. YMMV.

I can't remember the brand I installed, either silvestars or some expensive GE's. Either way, they were brighter but didn't last very long. Maybe 6 months. It even said they don't last very long compared to regular bulbs right on the package. Can't have the best of both worlds I guess. Throw a light bar on if you need more light, but don't be "that guy" and drive with it on behind someone or at oncoming traffic.

Lol...I'll bet they were Silverstars. Ironically, the bulbs advertised as being best for nighttime drivers can actually wind up being the WORST. A $30 bulb that burns out on you in the middle of the night 9 weeks after you put it in is much worse for seeing the road than a $10 bulb that lasts forever, right?
