I'd also just like it here for record, but this is an early 2014. It does not have any of the mid-2014 updates done to it.

Two things.
Yesterday for giggles I used my laser thermometer to check the temp of the heated air from Shelby.
Back in the middle vent the temp was 198f! Back in the driver side vent was 165f. Kind of shocked me.
Also, I missed a Mirage with 133,000 for <$3k. I didn't know the engines were so tough so I passed on it. It was a loaded SE 5mt. Not next time. I'll scoop it up and have a great second car. Will be kicking myself for awhile, I'm sure
Zero, 2014 ES Plus 5MT, written off but not forgotten.
Zero II, 2014 SE, 5MT, climate She's HOME now!
Shelby AKA "Cute", 2017 ES 5MT, A/C.
Mirage owners look at the world differently than everyone else, but in a better way
We're driving the Beetle of the 21st century, the greatest small car now available!

Just got in from the first night of working on Swarthy. It was pretty productive.
First thing I did was check out that cabin filter. Should have done it at the dealer! Oh well. I've seen worse. I cleaned it out for now and put it back in.
Next up, new shoes. I had these Sport Edition D5 wheels with Fuzion HRI tires laying around for another car I have. They'll suffice until a deal rolls around on some RE92s or Enasaves for the stock steelies. They aren't quite the right size, but they're pretty close. The tire is a 185/55/R14. I'll have to get some better pictures in the daylight, and clean up the tires. They've been sitting a while...
Last, but not least. Here are the tires that came off the car. I examined them to see the wear pattern. Both the fronts and rears show signs of toe in. They don't appear horrible, but could be improved upon. Of course I have no idea how often the other owner rotated his tires, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Here are the fronts.
Here are the rears. It looks like the driver's side tire has more tread, but it really doesn't. It was just the angle of the light.

Here is a daytime shot of the new wheels on the car. I agree, they do look nice.
Unfortunately, they do also rub! I can't turn too sharp or I get rubbing on the wheel well. For now I'll live with it and be careful until I get new OEM sized tires.
Edit: The rub has been fixed! It was a protruding wheel well plastic panel.

Sadly, no it did not. I also wasn't really able to try and vacuum out the chamber where the cabin filter goes either. It was on the edge of getting dark and I couldn't see anything. I'll have to start digging through it some day when I have more time and light. I looked through the service manual and it doesn't really go into the inner workings of the heater core and ventilation system as far as I could see. Looks like I'll probably have to find out the hard way! Of course you'll get lots of pics as I discover whats going on.

Maybe that's why the shifter boot was askew.
