3.1 l/100 km / 75.9 mpg today on my 65 km trips to work and back home. I coasted a lot behind trucks from 95 kph to 80 kph with an average of 85 kph on the 100 km of autobahn driving (total average of 65 kph). Fuel consumption dropped to 3.0 l/100 km on both trips but raised in the car park and city to 3.1 l/100 km on the last meters.

So I have a dumb question, I just had my first fill-up after 311 miles, MPG gage indicated 43.5 MPG. I realize that the "a" gage resets after 5 hours and it usually takes me approx. 5-20 miles before the MPG gets to 40-52 range. I presumed that my MGP fluctuated based on traffic, distance, stop and go etc. and that the read was overall based on the current trip.
Based on my overall MPG efficiency log for the entire tank (7.148 gallons), my actual MPG shows exactly the same MPG of 43.5.
So is this reset based on daily trips (such as going to work) or is the average based on total tank of gas?

P-Dog68,,,,, we all have had the same exsperance with that gauge on the MPGs .what it does it resets it's self everytime you stop and go. Because I ck mine one time before my Fill up, and it said I was getting 70 mpg and I had pulled over to ck that. Then I went to get gas and it was Totaly diffrent! So I only ck it wright before I fill up, to get a accurate reading.

Both gauges calculate based on distance travelled & fuel used since the last reset.
The "A" gauge resets after 4 hours of inactivity. If it happened to show 43.5 mpg and your manual calculations at the pump for the whole tank was also 43.5, it was just a coincidence they were identical.
The "B" gauge continues calculating until it is manually reset.

My fill-up today was 3.18 l/100 km with 31.84 liters and 1002 kilometers travelled, but I drove the last 10 kilometers just for fun .
A lot of coasting behind trucks and on country roads was rather work than fun and driving with temperatures over 35 °C without air conditioning was just torture. But when driving slowly and coasting a lot, the air conditioning increases the fuel consumption about 1 l/100 km - I tested it two times on a distance of 75 kilometers total and the fuel consumption was 3.7-3.8 l/100 km - only using the air conditiong for about half of that distance.
Lowest fuel consumption was 3.0 l/100 km several times.
PS: Now I´m on first place at Spritmonitor.
