The Fiesta 1.0 is also rated equal to the manual Mirage in combined mileage (37), but with higher highway (45) and lower city (32). (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find....n=sbs&id=34468)

That's quite the selection of cars you've had! I just sold my Honda hybrid this summer -- a 1st generation Insight, manual, which was good for 100 MPG (US) (2.4 L/100 km) at 50 mph (80 km/h) in modified form on a flat road. Amazing vehicle.

Enjoy your drive -- looking forward to your results.
I use to post links back in the day. MetroMPG you do very good work. I remember reading on a Insight Yahoo group site back in the day "2003" someone reporting getting 100mpg and a friend of mine said, "was you doing 25mph all the time?" LoL! Those where the days. Like I said, you do good work. "links"

A preliminary mpg gas figure I got from driving on I10 here in Florida was 43.1 mpg with the Mirage. But I will need to fill up two more times to get an average.
The next test will be country driving. Then city.
I did not run the air conditioner and drove at a steady 68mph.

Geo, keep up the good work.

    Keeping the faith.

This isn't OEM? I think it looks better. Where did you get it from?

Also, congrats on your new Mirage. =]
I know you're gonna love it.

It's not OEM, so buy at your own risk. LoL! See Socal6g's link.

It's my belief to find the car that will bring a smile on my face and so far this one is passing with flying colors.

Shiro I think I will call my car "Xit" after me but shorter.

    Keep the Mirage Faith.

    MY MPG after 3 fill-ups

As I said I would report my gas mpg findings here.

Avg. mpg after 3 fill-ups for the 2014 Mitsu. Mirage LE CVT...

    1. 43.1 mpg
    2. 41.4 mpg
    3. 40 mpg

    AVG.= 41.5 mpg

This is a steady 68 MPH on the HWY.

    Keep the Faith.

Very nice Zxit. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have any plans to modify it at all to get better mileage? A partial grill block could probably get you an extra mpg or two.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

    Quick response...

If I could I would make a hybrid out of it. What I have done though is increase air in the tires from 35 to 38lbs all around this helps mpg and cornering stability. Thus far the car has way passed my expectations.

A thought, what is a car worth after 10 years and 100K + miles. I expect a good Japanese car will give back more than we spend on it.

I have owned a Scion IQ and Toyota has parts for it that I found useful located here...

I added the sway bar. I also had to add a cruise control. "ROSTRA" from the

TRD you know what that means. MRD would be a good idea as well.

    Cool!

Zxit, Would you mind starting a new thread with details about your cruise control installation? I'm certain there will be more owners wanting to know about this. (And a dedicated thread will be easier to find.)

Sorry if I did not make it clear. I added the cruise control to the Scion IQ. The Mirage had one already. That made me happy.

MetroMPG, if you are interested in that which I doubt. A fly-by-wire cruise is straight forward and the directions to installing one comes with the kit.

I guess I will get back to writing some checks. Merry Christmas. LoL!

    Keep the Faith!
