Well, I'm watching a sub right now. 8", dual 4 ohm voice coil, and 4" of depth and it's ideal sealed enclosure is 0.35 cubic feet! If I connected this up to my amp, that would be 250 watts RMS going to a little 8" sub. This means LOADS of headroom and plenty of power to spare.

I will be replacing the front speakers as well and potentially the rear speakers too. The front speakers, I want to use Infinity as I love the way they sound (very soft and warm tweeters due to a textile dome tweeter). For the rear speakers, I found a pair of 6 1/2" 4 ohm woofers that might just work perfectly for adding a bit more midbass to the system, yet not moving the sound stage off the dash. We'll see.

I go in on Tuesday to have my foot X-rayed again. If the bones have healed pretty good then the doc will put me in a walking boot, so I'll be able to do a LOT more outside. If the bones have not healed enough, then the doc will put me back into a cast again and I will have to wait 2 more weeks.

Well, I won the auction for a new Polk Audio db804-DVC-8 sub for about $35 shipped!! Now to start gathering the other things I need to install it under the passenger seat!

I do love infinity speakers myself.

Please take pix (or vids) and do a DIY. Dont feel like I desperately need to, but will one day want to change my speakers.

I will try to do 2 of them. One for the door speakers and one for the under seat subwoofer.

Highly anticipating this DIY!!! With some quality speakers and that sub, I'm sure you'll get the sound we are all looking for!

A DIY would be great! Sounds like a fun project.

Well, the doctor report was a good one!! I am out of a cast and in a walking boot! So, today's agenda is to measure and design the box on paper.

I took some preliminary measurements. We have a LOT of width available, 18" overall, but not as much height as I originally thought. We do have 4" of height available, but we don't have as much room as I originally thought under the seat. So, I may have to mount the sub on one corner of the box, inverted. So instead of having 0.35 cubic foot of air space available, we have more like 0.26 cubic foot of air space available with using 0.5" thick MDF or HDF. I currently have 5/8" MDF and 3/4" HDF available in my garage. If I stuff the box with Polyfil and invert the sub then the box should act as though it is closer to 0.3 cubic foot which would be acceptable.
