Philippines: The Mirage in real-time (business.inquirer.net)

Relatively quick but packed review of the Mirage. The author doesn't waste words.

    Pros:
    - smooth ride
    - easy maneuvering (due to the turning radius)
    - good acceleration
    - plenty of rear seat headroom & legroom, easily seats 4 people comfortably, 5 for short trips
    - good forward & side visbility
    - "feels more solid than the other 3-cylinder 12-valve Japanese brand subcompact"

    Cons:
    - riding comfort is compromised over potholes and manhole covers
    - engine is noisy when revved & doesn't deliver power smoothly
    - considerable body roll around hard corners
    - wind noise at highway speeds
    - C pillars block your rear view a bit

I've been seeing that comment about the 1.2's power delivery in a few different places.

When they say it doesn't delivery power smoothly, I'm never sure if they're talking about the inherent vibration in a 3-cylinder (particularly at low RPM), or if they're saying there are power peaks or "flat spots" across the engine's powerband.

I would expect the lumpy idle/very low RPM roughness. But not the latter.

    Can any owners clarify this??

A dyno chart, torque & horsepower, would clarify things. If anyone can get their hands on one be sure to post it up!

I wonder if its more the noise aspect than actual power delivery too. I'd be surprised as well if it was the later.

I think that Top Gear PH magazine may have a dyno chart. (Not online).

This review spells out the complaint more clearly: "three-cylinder vibration at low revs, plus some flat spots in the rev range"
