We had a little break from the crazy bitter cold we've had lately. So, I took the chance to install the weather stripping that I ended up getting. The only real place I found 1" weather stripping was mcmaster-carr. They have a very nice selection of different weather striping sizes and shapes.

I ended up going with part number 93085K84, which is a big D profile. The length is 5ft.

The profile is about 1" x 1" which should be plenty big for our application.

So, I brought it outside, cleaned up the car, and started sticking it to the underside of the hood. I didn't really like the idea of putting the weather stripping on the bottom because I think it'll get in the way when working on the car.

I ended up cutting my 5ft length of weather stripping as shown. Its not real pretty, but I think its going to work really well.

It now is a bit difficult to close the hood. I dropped it from the normal height (~8"), but have to shove it for it to latch properly.
